News: Land price in Klang Valley too high for affordable homes: SPNB

Aug 16, 2012 - PropertyGuru.com.my

Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad's (SPNB) effort to construct more affordable homes in the Klang Valley is hindered by the high cost of land, according to a report by Bernama.

Datuk Dr Kamarul Rashdan Salleh, Managing Director at SPNB, said the company would not achieve its objective of building affordable houses within the area if the price of land is too high.

"If the land price is too high, it will mean that we cannot sell the houses at the target price of RM250,000 and below," he explained during a media conference at Kuala Lumpur.

Nonetheless, the company will still build affordable units in areas outside of the Klang Valley, he noted.

"SPNB is now focusing on building affordable homes (like) in Sabah, Kelantan and Johor."
